Mayor Wayne Goodsite announced Norwalk's semiannual Trash Pick-up Day on Monday September 27. The city will collect almost anything two men can lift and dispose of from curbs, excluding construction materials and tires.
Faye Ifford 24 faced an obituary joke after her door opened to mourners and sympathy visits. A Detroit friend, who had heard of her death, fainted on arrival.
The Elyria Chronicle Telegram reports license plates intended for farmers were sold to broad buyers, costing Ohio nearly 2 million dollars in tax revenue in 1974. Curtis Andrews calls the loss substantial. A study of 50 farm plate licenses in four counties shows 34 owners held no real estate or only city lots, nine owned more than one acre, and three owned more than 20 acres.

In Abilene Exxon dealers run a cash price two cents lower per gallon at all pumps. The move is part of an Exxon trial prompted by consumer groups who say credit costs raise gas prices. Some credit card customers reacted with frustration while cash customers welcomed the savings.
The Norwalk Board of Education planned to honor former Superintendent Albion V. Gotaas and longtime employee Elsie Miller at Tuesday’s meeting. Absent were Gotaas who was out of town and Miller who was present but noted as unavailable, and plaques were not ready. The board will reschedule the tributes.
The Norwalk Board of Education interviewed three of 45 applicants for the superintendent position and has 20 more scheduled. Officials aim to fill the post by mid October with male candidates who show at least ten years of administrative experience, mostly as a superintendent. Finalists will face community evaluations.
Democratic candidate Gar McKinley of Willard rejects WLKR manager James Westerhold as moderator for the October 9 debate at Willard High School. He urges Arche M. Thomas of Heidelberg College as an alternative, saying the moderator should be a news media member and local to the area.
Colonial flags will be displayed at the meeting of the Firelands Historical Society located at 790 First United Presbyterian Church Firelands Blvd. The event is open to the public.
The state revoked the license of Norwalk Quality Care Nursing Center for health code violations including an incomplete sprinkler system and narrow corridors. The owner Curtis Springer appealed in Huron County Court as Northwestern Service Corp plans a 50 bed Willard facility set for January completion.
