Oberlin Ohio teachers agree to a starting salary of 7550 dollars, down from 7850, ending a planned morning strike. The 120 teachers of 2000 students also drop demands for life insurance and a dental care plan after months of talks beginning in January.
In Pawling New York the National Bank was required by Manhattan Federal Court to compensate Elizabeth Gericke with 2650 in three years of back pay for sex discrimination under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Judge Dudley B Bonsal issued the injunction against the bank.
From Wolfsberg Germany Fred Neuenschwander representing James A Rhodes development group said there is a 75 percent chance VW would locate a U S plant in Ohio if chosen. Officials were receptive to northern or southeastern Ohio sites after meetings with VW representatives.
