Settlement Reached In 50 000 Dollar Auto Crash Suit

A 50000 suit for injuries from a November 1967 auto collision was settled out of court after a jury was impaneled in Huron County Common Pleas Court. Attorneys for Clyde W. Humphrey and Elton H. Houston reached the agreement. Judge Lynn B. Griffith Jr. presided.

Dirksen Lies In State At Capitol In Mourning

Everett McKinley Dirksen lies in state at the Capitol Rotunda after dying of a heart attack. President Nixon and Sen. Howard Baker plan tributes as Dirksen’s body will later move to Pekin Illinois for burial. 21st person in state at the Capitol shared with Eisenhower lighting a somber scene.

Bud Collyer Dies at 61 in Greenwich Hospital

Bud Collyer longtime host of Beat the Clock and other early TV game shows died Monday night at Greenwich Hospital after three weeks of treatment for a circulatory ailment. He was 61 and his wife was at his side at 7 23 p m EDT. Collyer also announced and acted on radio and soap operas and played Superman on WOR Mutual Network from 1938 52.

Agriculture subsidies to reward pollution control practices

Agriculture Secretary Clifford M. Hardin announced that starting next year subsidies will be paid to farmers who adopt water and air pollution control practices, marking the first time such environmental measures receive payments.
