Israel Receives U.S. Jets as Meir Set to Visit Washington

The State Department confirms delivery of 50 Phantom jets to Israel amid talks for 25 more Phantoms and 80 Skyhawks. Golda Meir plans to negotiate in Washington on September 25. Nixon’s Key Biscayne vacation home faces a $2,107.09 lien from Atomic Light Co for materials from Jones Electric Emergency Service. Jones Electric, which supplied the materials, declared bankruptcy recently. Nixon bought the property last year from former Senator George Smathers for $125,000.

Miss Ohio Baumann advances to Miss America finals

Kathy Lynn Baumann Miss Ohio moved into the Miss America finals after winning preliminary talent with a gold lame jumpsuit and acrobatic dance. The 19 year old Bowling Green State University junior also captured a pink swimsuit victory amid the pageant’s Atlantic City stages.

Homecoming reception for Neil Armstrong in Wapakoneta

About 1,000 residents welcomed Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong back to Wapakoneta with cheers of Mars is next as crowds lined the airport route. Armstrong and wife Jan, with sons Eric and Nick, greeted locals before a private reunion with his parents. The town swelled to 70,000 visitors amid celebrity appearances and a parade planned by Gov. City Receives Five Ambulance Bids for Review

Five private ambulance proposals were filed by noon Friday for city service. Alliance Ambulance Service led four others including Mansfield Ambulance Service Hospital Ambulance Service Inc Findlay Coach Rental Service and Norwalk Ambulance Service. A decision will not be released until after staff analyzes the bids, with a closed council session planned for Tuesday and a council meeting on September 16.

Residents Locate Hidden Cache In Norwalk Area
