Patty Winiarski Crowned Queen At New London
Patty Winiarski a 17 year old New London High School senior who aims to teach retarded children was crowned queen at the Firelands Labor Day Festival. She was crowned by last year’s queen Becky Switzer. Patty and attendants Lisa Nicode and Cheryl Brown will ride on the Rotary Club float in tonight’s eighth annual parade. The parade starts at 6 p.m. from the high school and ends at Recreation Park after marching through downtown. Judges noted poise among ten contestants and replies to three questions. Patty is the oldest of four children of Mr and Mrs William Winiarski of rural Norwalk and is a varsity cheerleader and member of multiple clubs and teams. The queen and court will present trophies and awards during the festival which runs through Labor Day.
