Cleric Sees Modern Marriage as Realistic View
The Rev. Richard Eckel, former St Mary’s priest and now Sandusky Youth House director, told Welcome Wagon members that today’s view of marriage is more realistic and experienced. He discussed openness about sex, counseling couples, and the need for commitment, noting he only refused six marriages. He praised the 1960s hippie era for widening views while warning against legalism and divorce. The event at Sycamore Hills Club House featured Eckel’s candid insights aimed at couples and women, with a focus on responsibility and lasting union.
