Norwalk Woman Killed in Olive Road Crash
A Norwalk woman, Susan B. Schaffer 22 of 101 Parsons St., died after her auto skidded off Olive Road and hit a tree near North Fairfield. She died at Willard Area Hospital from head and chest injuries. The crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. seven-tenths of a mile east of State Route 61. Roy Walters reported the accident. Schaffer was single and worked as a machine operator for West Baking Co.

Ex convict hostage siege ends with unharmed hostages
Edward Owen Watkins a 56 year old ex convict armed with a shoebox bomb and pistol held six bank hostages in Cleveland demanding 50 000.
