Lindbergh Crash Lands In Isabela Philippines

Charles A. Lindbergh and an unidentified companion crash landed in Isabela, Philippines. He sustained only minor injuries as the single engine plane owned by the Philippine Air Transport Flying School is being reported by the Civil Aeronautics Administration. Lindbergh, 67, is en route to a nearby town on a sightseeing trip and assists a local group preserving tamaraw herds.

Keys removed from unlocked cars authorized by police

Police will remove keys from unattended unlocked cars starting today and will leave a note with the officer name badge number and reclaim location. Keys not turned into the station until duty completion.

Thwart Burglary At M D s Office

Patrol officers thwarted a break in at the offices of Dr. William Holman and Dr. John Blackwood at 257 Benedict Ave. An officer found Holman’s west door ajar at 1 48 am and prying marks on the lock. Blackwood’s east door shows attempted entry but no serious intrusion occurred. Authorities credit timely police presence and proximity to The First United Presbyterian Church for deterring the burglars.

Leaf Pickups Begin Friday in Norwalk

Norwalk leaf collection starts Friday per Service Director William V. Mount. Residents are urged to avoid raking leaves into gutters or streets to prevent sewer clogs and instead place them in the grassy boulevard strip between the sidewalk and curb.

Blacks seize office at Vassar College administration building

About 50 black students at Vassar College seized the administration building and the president's office in protest of unaddressed demands for a black studies program and separate housing for black students. A spokesman said nearly all of the 59 black students participated in the demonstration.
