A 400 pound female African lioness remains at large in north Georgia after a break in a private zoo cage near the Georgia Tennessee border. Hunters with tranquilizers and rifles search across three counties as Humane Society and game officers join the pursuit. Four lions have already been killed and two recaptured, with livestock losses including dogs and a cow. Owner Linda Keown describes the lions as dangerous and her family has raised them for 12 years.
Meissa Resor, an in home Milan dispatcher since Oct 1, says she resigned after officials did not discuss her contract grievances. She sought pay raises and vacation time, while council considered replacing her at $110 a month with paid vacation after a year.

Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner criticized President Ford's ads that used a Playboy interview with Jimmy Carter to influence voters. Hefner called the ads an improper attempt to smear Carter by association and said Carter was not paid for the interview.
In Huron County the race for prosecutor pits Democrat Richard Hauser against Republican Michael Fegen. Hauser, 29, seeks a strong full time office with broad authority, arguing private practice creates conflicts of interest. Fegen, 35, contends the office is too big and costly and that investigations should remain with the sheriff and police, not the prosecutor’s office.
