Equal Time Granted In Pulpit To Insurance Executive

Ohio insurance executive Charles E. Nail Jr of Lumbermens Mutual Insurance sought and received pulpit time at West Shore Unitarian Church after pastor Rev. David Cole criticized the company. Nail argued rights of the majority, noting pooling of premiums. The church’s sermon raised privacy concerns over character checks on homeowners policies. Lumbermens said such checks are discontinued due to questionable information. A separate Sonoma County jail story notes three inmates were captured after a guard heard sawing through an outside wall.
