U S jets bombed Nui Dong naval base for the first time in the war and struck rail yards at Haiphong in the port area, according to American spokesmen.
Police reported John A. Espinto died after a pistol fired during a Russian Roulette game at a local west side bar. Witnesses said he clicked the trigger several times before the gun discharged.
Ravenna Arsenal officials search for how three M 72 rockets and three launchers ended up in the Tuscarawas River three miles north of Dover near the Dover Dam. Lt. A lab technician at Hammermill Paper Co killed five co workers and wounded at least nine others in a shooting spree that also hit Piper Aircraft Co. and Loganton before his arrest in Loganton. Police said Leo Held, about 45, carried two revolvers and moved through the plant and the adjacent sites.
About 28,000 hourly Ford workers in 13 Ohio plants will vote on a tentative agreement announced by the United Auto Workers and Ford. Voting starts Tuesday after more than a month and a half of a strike that idled many facilities. Ohio plants include Lorain, Cleveland, Cincinnati suburbs Fairfax and Sharonville, Lima, Canton, Sandusky, and Fostoria with thousands of UAW members and a weekly Ohio payroll of 4.6 million dollars.
Edith Purcell of Wadsworth, a mother of two, made her first parachute jump at Blatter Field to raise funds for the 19 children of 16 skydivers who died in Lake Erie. Mrs. Miller traveled with Mrs. John Blackwood to the Indiana event.
