Lowest Combat Toll in Vietnam War Reported
U S military said five Americans were killed in the Vietnam war last week the lowest weekly combat toll in more than six years. It followed eight deaths the prior week and brought total U S casualties in Indochina since Jan 1 1961 to 45 577. The last week had the lowest toll since August 7 1965 when three Americans died in combat.

Huron County Regional Planning Commission approved a six to seven acre plat for Meadow Lane Subdivision on the south side of South Norwalk Road between Ridge Road and a creek, developed by Firelands Housing and Land Corp. The panel also tabled a half acre annexation on Old State Road and discussed Wakeman Township rezoning for a new bowling alley on Ohio 60. They approved annexation east of Willard for a 12 unit apartment complex and reviewed a transportation report on U.S. 20 and U.S. 250 relocations.

Two Norwalk Men Face Drug Charges
Two young Norwalk men were arrested on drug charges with one arrest in Norwalk for selling marijuana and another in Cleveland for selling prescription drugs Darvon and Librium. Pleas of not guilty were entered, bonds set, and both remained jailed at press time.

Four shots were fired from a Hunter College area parapet toward the Soviet Mission to the United Nations on East 67th Street. A high powered rifle was found in an adjacent airshaft and a cello case Smuggling the rifle into the building. An anonymous caller later delivered a four line verse to UPI.
