Alsport expands to Route 20 for camping trailer production

Norwalk based Airport Inc will lease Route 20 buildings formerly Interstate Motor Freight to produce camping trailers and utility trailers for dune scooter distribution. Ten workers currently at the site, with Alsport also expanding existing plant at 84 Whittlesey Ave to meet new trailer demand.

Variable cloudiness and cooling across Norwalk weather outlook

Variable cloudiness brings wind and cooler temperatures with highs in the upper 50s to 60s today. Tonight and Wednesday expect showers or light snow flurries, with lows in the low 40s and a high around the low 50s. Precipitation chances rise to 20 percent today and 40 percent tonight, then 50 percent Thursday. Winds shift from west to northwest today to northwesterly tonight and northerly Wednesday. Also notes marriage license applications for Harold E. Vail and Wanda B. Laub of Bellevue, and several local births.

No Tax Decision Tonight in Norwalk

Norwalk City Council will not consider a city income tax ordinance tonight. Finance Chairman Allen Hakes said the council defers to study a Blue Ribbon Citizens Committee report proposing a half per cent tax, instead of the one per cent originally read. The panel’s recommendation leaves a chance for action at a future meeting, with a public notice beforehand.

Ex-City Man's Condition Worsens After Plane Crash

Karl W. Brooks Jr., former Ridge Road resident, remains in serious condition at Community Hospital Riverside after an operation to repair injuries from a two year old airplane crash. His left hand was attached to his stomach to aid repair as circulatory problems persist. Brooks suffered multiple broken and burned bones and was not expected to survive the initial accident.

UNICEF Drive Set Here Sunday

Norwalk hosts UNICEF Day with junior and senior high students soliciting donations for children in 120 countries. Collectors carry orange and black cartons and operate under church sponsorship starting at 2 p.m. under the First United Methodist Church St Paul Catholic Church and the First United Presbyterian Church.

Injury suit filed over train wreck at Gallup crossing

A $750000 damage suit against Norfolk and Western Railroad alleges negligence caused a car train collision at Gallup Avenue crossing on January 4. Richard J. Brant, of Fremont, claims permanent lower body paralysis and spinal injuries. He is represented by Freeman and Freeman in Huron County Common Pleas Court.

Norwalk Banquet Speaker Dr L Clair Warden Address

The Norwalk Chamber of Commerce banquet on November 13 will feature Dr. L Clair Warden pastor of The King Avenue Methodist Church near OSU campus. Monroeville Driver Sued For 160000 In Collision Case

Two suits filed in Huron County Common Pleas seek 160000 in damages against 19 year old Michael J. Tyler of Monroeville for negligence in a August 9 crash on U S 250 near Norwalk. Evelyn Goble, 18, a passenger in the other car, and Garley L. Goble of Norwalk sue for injuries including chest, lung, rib, knee and ankle that required hospitalization and kept her from returning to work.

Kopechne Opposes Autopsy in Chappaquiddick Case

The father of Mary Jo Kopechne told a UPI hearing in Wilkes Barre that permitting an autopsy would be like another funeral. He and his wife oppose the request by Massachusetts authorities for an autopsy on the 28 year old secretary who died in the Kennedy submerged car incident on Chappaquiddick Island on July 18.
