North Star Council of Governments struggles to fill required committee seats for Economic Development Administration grants. With no quorum at Thursday’s Fostoria meeting no business was conducted. Seneca and Wyandot counties have delayed the district program while Huron and Crawford counties earlier supported forming committees. Next meeting is November 16 in Upper Sandusky at dinner.

Money Crunch May Close Humane Society Shelter
The Huron County Humane Society warns it may close by Jan 1 without windfall donations or county aid. Officials seek full-time staff and more funds, but county commissioners offer only $5,000 from the dog and kennel fund, with no salary boost. The shelter houses 28 cats and 14 dogs and faces possible euthanasia if funds vanish.
