The Western Reserve School Board may sponsor an Anything Goes show to raise funds for a new scholarship. Guidance counselor David Rice presented the idea to the board. Funds would supplement $1,000 ACT scholarships for top scorers, with local funds awarded to second through fourth place.
Ehove Joint Vocational School will switch to a new accounting system requiring 300 separate accounts by Jan 1. The overhaul, approved at a Wednesday board meeting and led by clerk Betty Wolfram, aims to improve tracking of personnel and program costs.
Norwalk Board of Control met at noon Wednesday and accepted two bids for a leaf picker and a snowblower, with awards to be announced later. Bids for the leaf picker came from Galion Gledhill Equipment Co. at 10173 dollars and from J J Turner Co. at 10934 and 13047 dollars. Snowblower bids included Quality Highway Equipment Inc at 19125 dollars plus a 298 dollar hydraulic clutch option and J J Turner Inc at 19965 dollars. The board also noted Ohio estate tax figures for several estates in Huron County and voted to seek federal funding for new audio visual gear and library supplies. A color photo of the late Webster Stewart will be placed in the school's honor area. Stewart, the chief engineer, died September 26. Bonding for Supt Crieghton Christ Clerk Betty Wolfram and board President Alto Miller was raised from 10000 to 20000 dollars, aligning with a state law setting 20000 bonds for three school officials. The district hired five substitute teachers and four adult education substitutes.
