Norwalk's sidewalk program, opposed by some residents, has 6500 feet built this year out of over 40000 feet ordered. Engineering for 8000 more feet is finished. The city may require property owners to fund and install sidewalks or let the city contractor proceed, with costs around five dollars per foot.
Don Burtchin of St. Peter Lutheran Church serves as a delegate to the American Lutheran Church general convention in Detroit representing the Lake Erie Conference. The gathering includes about a thousand delegates with 104 of 500 lay delegates being women as it conducts synod business for two and a half million members across 4,825 congregations.
The 1975 Huron County Fair runs August 11 to 16 Monday through Saturday instead of the usual Tuesday through Sunday. The change was decided at a October 3 fair board meeting. A master plan for a 10 year capital improvement program for the fairgrounds was presented, prepared by James E Stratton and Associates of Worthington with planning input from Edwin Fessenden and Cletus.
Norwalk High School and St. Paul High School sent students to the ninth annual Youth and Science conference at Ohio State University on Oct. 5. Attendees included Terry Wurzel Sue Kluding Kevin Koontz Teri Woelfling Laurie Woodward and Cindy Ott. Gary Hicks of Norwalk HS advised the group. Sponsors were Citizen's National Bank and Huron County Bank.
