The first shipment of bivalent flu vaccine arrived at the Huron County Health Department for delivery to physicians. About 2,000 doses will be distributed to doctors and five nursing homes with a second 2,000-dose shipment due the week of October 18. The vaccine targets swine flu and Type A Victoria strains for people 60 and older or those under 60 with chronic conditions. Doctors may charge for office visits to administer the shot.
Two Americans Chris Chandler and Hubert Cormack reached the summit of Mount Everest at 6 35 am EDT after Sherpa Ang Phurba turned back with the flags. An oxygen failure forced Ang Phurba to descend, leaving the climbers to finish alone. The foreign ministry said no further announcements would follow today.
