Tips On Corn Harvesting Elevators Report Good Yields
Area elevator operators report good yields for both soybeans and corn as harvest begins. Seaman-McClean Co. notes excellent bean yields with cooperative weather, while others cite mixed bean quality due to late dry spells and moisture. bean prices hover around 2.90 with possible rise to 3.30 or 3.40. Corn yields look strong due to early planting, but prices are weak near 96 cents, pressured by expectations of a large crop and stock market speculation. Blight is limited but reported in some fields. moisture remains a concern with higher levels than last year in some samples. Overall, operators predict a tight year financially for farmers and elevators alike.
