Bowling Center Owner Ordered to Fill Hazardous Pit
Huron County Health Board ordered Steve Kayatin owner of City Bowling Center north of Norwalk to fill in a nine foot pit with stagnant water and seal it within 30 days. Deputy health chief Ellett said water could contaminate the outside well and instructed clay fill and a slab. Kayatin resisted insisting on summer completion. The board also approved a private sewer plan for Milan Manor and allowed staff to attend regional health meetings.

Norwalk’s Department of Ambulance Service set two September records with 3469 miles logged and 2478 dollars in billings. Coordinators credit two out-of-state runs to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and Charleston West Virginia for the surge, as 69 calls included 39 emergencies and 30 transport invalids. Most trips, 47, went to Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital with others to area hospitals rest homes a funeral home and a residence. Fifty five runs started in Norwalk.
