President Khandakar Moshtaque Ahmed announced in a nationwide radio broadcast that general elections would be held in February 1977 to restore democracy after a coup last August. He emphasized handing power to an elected government.
Three Arab guerrillas attacked Beirut International Airport at 5:20 a.m. firing rifles and submachine guns. Police and soldiers subdued the attackers after a bloody exchange. one guerrilla and a police sergeant were killed, several officers and civilians wounded, and a fourth man was arrested. The dead raider was identified as Syrian, wounded as Palestinian, and the third as Egyptian. all carried Al Fatah cards.
U N Ambassador Daniel Moynihan called Uganda President Idi Amin a racist murderer and said Amin seeks to weaken democracy to bolster his own position. Moynihan cited Amin's Wednesday proposal to abolish the state of Israel as evidence of totalitarian and Communist U N members who rely on democracy's failure.

Florence Elaine Sullivan 30 of Lockwood Motel is charged with two bomb threats that evacuated Wappler Instrument Co. on North Pleasant Street on Thursday and Friday. She was arrested an hour after Friday’s call and jailed in Huron County. Police say the calls originated from pay phones and an investigation led to the arrest.
