United Press International reports that the three largest U.S. steel firms planned a 6 percent price increase. President-elect Jimmy Carter condemned the move as an unsettlering influence on price stability, cautioning oil producers may retaliate with higher rates.
Bernard Shulman a Cleveland area druggist and founder of Revco Discount Drug Stores was found dead in a San Francisco motel room. The San Francisco County Administrative Coroner said the preliminary cause was death by own action. Shulman aged 51 had disappeared June 18 and had been missing since.
