Ohio Senate to retry controversial pay hike plan
The Ohio Senate plans a 1:30 p.m. session to pass a pay raise bill for state legislators and top officials after Democrats failed to reach 17 votes Tuesday. The measure would raise legislators by 5,000 a year and governors and other officials by 10,000 to 12,000, with county officials also receiving increases. Some senators seek reductions or incremental increases, while others press for ensuring fiscal restraint under Carter era guidelines. A separate 2.9 million supplemental appropriation for business development projects across five sites, including a 1.25 million street project for the Goodyear Tech Center in Akron, was advanced.
