Huron County connects to Ohio Disaster Service Center

Huron County now has a direct line to the Ohio Disaster Service Agency with a $1,600 radio installed at the county disaster service HQ in the jail basement. The state will place 40 band radios across Ohio by December, enabling rapid requests for aid from the Ohio National Guard and other agencies during major storms. County coordinator Robert Hauser and deputies installed antenna and wiring, with state technician Mark Patchen noting the system’s single frequency but potential for hundreds of channels.
