Striking Ohio Workers Ballots Due For Contract Vote

Midnight Tuesday marked the ballot deadline for Northern Ohio Telephone Co. plant and traffic employees voting on the contract reached with company leaders and Local 986 IBEW. Ballots postmarked after midnight will be invalid. timing for count and results was not announced.

Fire destroys large portion of Kirkkersville elementary

A major fire at Kir kirkesville Elementary School in Licking County on Tuesday night destroyed about three quarters of the classroom space leaving significant damage and minor injuries to one firefighter.

Santa Arrival Promoted for Norwalk Parade and Castle Visit

Santa Claus arrives in Norwalk at 3 p.m. Friday aboard an antique truck leading a Main Street parade with the Norwalk High School band and a fire truck. He greets children at the courthouse, then returns at 6:30 p.m. with a German Band for a Main Street sidewalk parade until 7. He visits with children at his castle at Hester and Main from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on following dates including Dec 4 5 11 and 12 and daily Dec 14 23 except Sundays. Arrangements are by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Norwalk merchants announce Christmas drawings with coupons in the RE FLECTOR and Huron County Herald for a 9:15 p.m. Saturday courthouse drawing. winners need not be present.

Carlson's Courage Cited as House Passes Redistricting Bill

The Ohio House narrowly approved a reapportionment plan 84 to 41 to set one representative per about 69 332 residents while sending the redistricting bill to the Senate ahead of Thanksgiving. The measure would create 24 congressional districts ending atLarge seats and faces party battles in the Senate and potential May primary ballot.

Missionary Doctor Among Victims in Stanleyville Crisis

UPI reports in Stanleyville, Congo, Dr. Paul Carlson, a 36 year old American missionary physician, killed during the rebel siege. More than 350 hostages, including 15 Americans, remained in rebel hands as Belgian paratroopers and Congo troops rescued whites and evacuated to Leopoldville and Brussels.

City observes Thanksgiving with most offices closed though some restaurants and service stations remain open. Union Thanksgiving service at 7:45 p.m. at the Methodist Church featuring Rev. William L. Paratroopers Crack Riots in Saigon as Martial Law Looms

South Vietnamese paratroopers breached a 15 foot wall of flame in central Saigon to quell fresh anti government riots. Prime Minister Tran Van Huong declared martial law and set a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. The fighting left 59 injured, mostly police, with two officers near death from stab and grenade wounds. Ambassador Maxwell Taylor left for Washington to discuss South Viet Nam policy with President Johnson. About 1,500 people sought asylum behind a wire fence as demonstrators set gasoline fires and lobbed rocks.

Reflector Finds Parking Meter Abuse In Norwalk

A weeklong survey by Reflector staff found many repeat parkers in Norwalk with 55 meters checked from Main to Benedict and Whittlesey. Expired meters totaled 35. only two cars were tagged, one tied to a police officer and another to a mayoral relative.
