The first of 25 defendants indicted for the Kent State disturbances faces trial in Portage County on Monday. Jerry Rupe 23 formerly of Ravenna now in Cleveland is charged with rioting slashing a fire hose and rocks thrown at a May 1970 antiwar demonstration. The Supreme Court denied delays and juries will be drawn individually for each case with 120 potential jurors per trial. The state budget provides 53 000 for the proceedings.
