Johnson Appeals Critics During Vietnam Tour

President Johnson used a two day Navy visit and Veterans Day remarks aboard the USS Enterprise to condemn antiwar critics while praising service members. He toured Ft Benning El Toro and other bases, pledging unity and urging continued resolve to end the war. He promised support for schools and homes and saluted soldiers and families for their sacrifices.

Lost shoe blamed for three car crash at crossing

A three car collision occurred late Friday when a missing shoe caused driver Ann E. Moore to press the gas instead of the brake while waiting for a train on Jefferson Street. Marianne Landoll and Kathleen Mainzer were involved. all three cars were damaged and towed from the scene.

Scientists Race to Communicate with Twin Moon Probes

McCarthy Rejects Unity Appeal As He Tests 1968 Run

Senator Eugene J. McCarthy visiting Ann Arbor rejected Johnson's call for unity. He denied deciding to enter the early primaries, dismissing a Washington Post report as reading his mind. The Post said he would announce in Cambridge plans to enter the New Hampshire primary.
