Rome Police Capture Hijacker of TWA Jet in Italy
Salvatore Palmeri of Rome police led a flying squad capture of Lance Cpl. Raffaele Minichiello the 20 year old AWOL Marine who hijacked a TWA 707 en route from California to Rome. He zigzagged across the U S and Atlantic stopping in Denver New York Bangor Shannon before landing south of Rome. He faces air piracy charges in the United States and Italy will decide where to try him.

Norwalk youngsters will hold a Halloween program tonight with parade steps at 6 30 p m from Case and Church Streets if weather is clear or a 7 p m meeting at Norwalk High School if it rains. Bands from Norwalk High School junior high and St Pauls High School perform. Mayor Harold E Finch will ride in the first car with Fritz the Clown joining the marchers. Prizes for costumes awarded at the high school near a small church.

Final push for the Norwalk Area United Fund shows 26.5 percent of the $70,848 goal raised. Drive chairman Donald Blosser urges reports for the final meetings on November 7 and 10 with no campaign extension planned this year. Dr Joseph Geoghan leads the professional division with $980 more, totaling $3,404 or 36 percent. Industrial, residential, and commercial divisions report $11,155 $2,047 and $2,100 respectively, bringing the fund to $18,706 of the goal.

Fire Burns Through Area Corn Field Near U S 250 North
Firefighters extinguished a burning corn field on Deep Dale Drive off U S 250 North. The fire started in the middle of the field owned by Leland Stower, with wind driving flames toward the road. No cause yet. a hunter was reportedly in the area. Fire Chief Kenneth Link said most of the corn may be salvaged.

Norwalk Fans Celebrate Truckers Win and Crown
Norwalk High School and St. Pauls fans roared as the Truckers defeated Willard 10-2 in a late interception TD by Cecil Boyd sealing the victory. Dale Perkins added the initial Norwalk score with a field goal as confetti flew and Boyd was hailed a hero by teammates and fans.
