In Dublin Ohio Jim Simons fired a final round 74 to finish four under par 284 winning the Memorial Tournament and $250000. He held off Bill Kratzert by one stroke as Jack Nicklaus faltered with a fourth hole triple bogey and a late bunker mis cue.

Norwalk firefighters investigated a report of odor at Gaumont Nursing Home on Saturday. They examined room 9 and the building with no fire found. A controlled training exercise followed at the 87 Ontario Street location, using air masks, water application, ventilation, and hose techniques on an abandoned Attica property owned by Mr. Oney.
