New London High School Honors Quiz Bee and Scholarships
New London High School held its annual awards assembly awarding NEW LONDON-Quiz Bee, Scholarship, Spelling awards and Booster Club scholarships. The Quiz Bee team, which competed against eight Lakeland Conference schools in radio program trials, received keys from advisor Leland Girton.

New London Council Approves Insurance and Pay Increases
New London Council awarded Marett Insurance Agency a three year auto and general liability policy totaling 1 379.88 for year one and 1 204.91 for years two and three saving 218.71 annually. The clerk treasurer's pay rises 25 per month effective Jan 1 1966 with half funded by the Board of Public Affairs. A 5 cent per hour raise for extra clerical help was approved. Fire protection contracts for Clarksfield Fitchville and New London township were renewed at 200 each. A new fire alarm system linking volunteers homes is in use. The council discussed a bill to restrict municipal control of door to door salesmen and urged letters to Senator Guyer and Representative Jump opposing it. Other actions included sidewalk maintenance notices beautification thanks to a garden club mosquito control program and various school and science awards for students.

Leroy L. Archie Leis has been elected president of the Monroeville Junior Chamber of Commerce for 1965 66. Clifford Wilson John Ebert Ronald Stang Harold Bud Scheid and Donald E. Morrow fill the other offices with Milan Avenue as retiring president. A new clubhouse is being built above the Monroeville Spectator office on South Main Street as social meetings occur first and third Wednesdays and business meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays.

European trip slides showcased at Future Teachers tea
NEW LONDON Elea nor Ketchum, fifth grade teacher, showed slides from Greece Yugoslavia Switzerland and other places she visited last summer at the Future Teachers of America chapter tea.
