Historical Society Meets In New Parish House
The Firelands Historical Society gathered in the new parish hall at St. Pauls Episcopal Church marking its first community event there. The Rev Elden Smith called it fitting for the society to meet on the historic spot. The hall replaces the former white frame house destroyed by a January 1976 fire and opened three weeks ago. The group paid tribute to Ruth Beller Young, its first woman president, who served in 1974 and 1975. Plans include a junior membership program and a reprint project for Picturesque Huron with prepublication pricing. A slide presentation featured photos from the book.

Rally in Norwalk Advances Regional Government Critique
More than 250 people attended a rally by The Ohio Committee to Restore the Constitution at the Norwalk American Legion last week. Colonel Archibald Roberts, national committee president, claimed regional government is unconstitutional and nonelective, urging support for H.J.R. 33 and H.B. 778 while warning of land, gun, and health controls as a path to centralized power. He noted shifts in Ohio City’s development from a slum to a middle class area, citing industrial growth and suburban moves as factors shaping urban change.
