Bedmobiles Bed Race Draws Norwalk Crowd

About 200 fans watched the First Annual Bed Race in the Norwalk Furniture Co. lot as teams from Norwalk Milan Castalia and Vermilion raced single and double bedmobiles on a half mile track. Milan and Castalia tied a photo finish while Norwalk won the single bed event. A Cleveland TV crew filmed the event and promised a return.

Assessments For Sewers Announced In Norwalk

Norwalk City Council will hear four ordinances imposing special assessments for sanitary sewers on properties across Whittlesey Avenue Cleveland Road Old State Road West Main Street and North West Street. A typical 60 foot front would pay about 508.80 plus a 335 connection fee with variances for preexisting sewers. Construction finished about a year ago and many residents used septic tanks or open piping before. City Engineer James Widman notes older West Main Street parcels may receive lower charges due to prior sewer assessments. City Council 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Maplehurst School open house at 7:30 tonight.
