Severe Storms Sweep Ohio Floods and Tornado Hit Areas
A Sunday outbreak of severe weather in Ohio left at least a dozen injured and brought strong winds up to 70 miles per hour. A tornado touched down near Ithaca in Darke County injuring James and Laura Johnson when a barn roof was lifted. WLKR radio in Norwalk was knocked off air for 90 minutes due to a damaged power supply and later operated on reduced power until a replacement device arrives.

Johnson seeks broad excise tax cuts to lower consumer prices
President Johnson asked Congress for a nearly 4 billion dollar cut in excises to reduce prices. He proposed 3.5 billion in two stages starting July 1 and January 1 1966, plus 464 million in yearly installments through 1969, with other increases and full repeal of several taxes including air conditioners and certain retail duties on handbags luggage jewelry and furs.

Area Men Die In Drowning And Auto Crash
Two area men died this weekend in separate incidents. Adam F. Kirschner 66 of Birmingham was killed when his car left Route 60 and struck a tree and gas meter near Vermilion. Clarence W. Reynolds 21 of Sandusky drowned in a pond on Strecker Road near the Ohio Turnpike after the boat he and friends used began to sink. Reynolds body was recovered and sent to local funeral homes. Kirschner's death followed an 8 p.m. hospital admission for chest and internal injuries. Funeral arrangements were announced with services Tuesday at the Birmingham funeral home.
