Unidentified man cuts phone lines in San Jose teens’ booths

A man waited outside two public telephone booths for 40 minutes then returned with wire cutters and severed the lines. Police say he drove off smiling. The incident occurred as two teenagers talked nearby.

Rail Strike Sweeps Nation Firemen Save Girl In Well

Becky Anderson ten years old fell into a 20 foot water well near New London while tending ponies. Firemen rescued her with a rope and she was treated for shock and reported in good condition. The incident occurred as rail workers began nationwide strike action involving eight major railroads.

Northern Ohio Telephone sues to acquire Norwalk property

The Northern Ohio Telephone Company filed in Huron County Common Pleas Court seeking entry on real estate adjoining its Norwalk exchange office. It says negotiations with owners Raymond J. and Aileen Flanagan failed and asks for legal steps to appropriate the rear property on South Hester Street to add the exchange building for automatic central office equipment to improve service. Attorneys are Aigler and Aigler for the phone company and Young and Young for the Flanagans.

Stokely Plans Two Additions At North West Street Plant

A building permit has been issued for two additions to the Stokley Van Camp plant on North West Street. Estimated cost of the additions is 5000 dollars. Roth Brothers is the contracting firm handling the project.

Mixed Feelings At Bellevue Hearing On Juvenile Names

Bellevue officials and area judges debated publishing juveniles names at a public hearing. Sheriff Wagner urged naming juveniles and families, while others warned it could ruin reputations and that the press bears responsibility. A survey of 60 teenagers favored names for second offenses only.
