Ohio House Set To Mandate Shorter School Year Days

Ohio House plans a floor vote next Tuesday on emergency legislation that would grant eight makeup free days to districts that closed due to severe winter weather. The measure, approved 81-0 by the House Education Committee, forgives three snow emergency days and allows five extra closure days beyond the usual calamity days if schools attempt to make up the excess by June 16. Rep. Betts criticized the bill, warning it could burden districts that already forgave days under the law.
