The Senate Finance Committee backed a tax cut bill with 50 dollar rebates for more than 90 percent of Americans and a small cut for many standard deduction users. The vote was 9 to 7 along party lines, Democrats in favor and Republicans against. The bill largely mirrors President Carter’s request with extensive changes to business incentives.
