Track Is Back At Norwalk High As 52 Seek Track Return
Norwalk High opens the 1978 indoor track season under coach John Frederick with optimism about renewed respect for the program. He notes 52 athletes out, up from 31, a strong senior class, new assistant Gus Seeger, and focus on attitude. Frederick targets a top four finish in the NOL and emphasizes mental preparation and exciting dual meets despite acknowledging limits. Sprinter Rick Carrasco awaits medical clearance, while Erick Kirk, Jim Rhoad, Rick Zureich, Terry Ray, and Dave Rheam anchor returning Lettermen alongside several promising freshmen.
