Rangers Grab Outfielder Alex Johnson From Indians
Texas acquires 30 year old outfielder Alex Johnson from Cleveland for relief pitchers Rich Hinton and Vince Colbert. Johnson, a former AL batting champion, will be used mainly as a designated hitter if he produces as Whitey Herzog hopes. Johnson's past include a 1971 California suspension and a later back pay award after emotional stress findings.
