Ohio seeks ban on disposal of radioactive waste in state

Cuyahoga County officials urged the Ohio Senate committee to approve a bill prohibiting radioactive waste disposal in Ohio. They cited federal assessments that parts of northern Ohio salt mines could be used for waste, opposing such plans and backing the legislation.

Man Arrested On Worthless Warrant In Huron County

Raymond Schaffer of Toledo was arrested near Bellevue on a worthless warrant issued by Judge Robert W. Smith in 1976 for probation violations. The warrant was void when Smith terminated Schaffer’s probation Jan 2 1979, but deputies say the recall failed. Schaffer was later charged with two counts of simple assault after a scuffle at the jail.
