City Council Hears Ambulance Rate Glitch In Norwalk
Norwalk City Council debated ambulance pricing with five bills and a key amendment to clarify out of area rates. A $25 base plus $1 per mile would apply to runs outside Norwalk service area including Bronson and Norwalk Townships, despite a $60 per call contract in those townships. Council members pressed for fair pricing as a driver and solicitor warned against binding agreements without contracts. The panel voted 6 1 to send the ordinance back to the ambulance committee for clarification as mayor said new fire and ambulance contracts would be mailed to Norwalk and Bronson Townships.
