The Episcopal Bishop of Zanzibar and Tanzania will preach at St Pauls Episcopal Church in Norwalk during a March 10 11 visit. He participates in Sunday services March 11. The church maintains a reciprocal link with a church in Africa. The Rev Eldon Smith spoke.
The Norwalk Board of Control awarded a three year fire and related coverage contract to Bache Furey and Myers Inc for 10 743 paid in full. Bache submitted one of three bids with other bidders Summer Insurance Agency at 5809 for one year and Mack Insurance at 4329 for one year or 12368 for three years.
Major Thornsberry of rural Willard pleaded not guilty in Huron County Court on Tuesday to assault and battery. Bond set at $1000 cash or $2000 property. He is charged with beating Louis Kimberlin on September 30.
Early morning automatic alarm at Fanny Farmer Candy Shops on U.S. 20 alerted firefighters to a small fire in a boiler room. The sprinkler system and a company carbon dioxide extinguisher controlled the blaze damaging cardboard cartons and cleaning supplies. Fire Chief Elmer McGuckin cited possible causes including careless disposal of a cigarette.
Kiwanis Club plans a youth or senior program with 600 hours yearly if members donate one hour quarterly. Speaker Joseph Turner urged donations and outlined a full time equivalent of five months’ work. The club set a pancake breakfast for March 13 at the Norwalk VFW Hall to raise funds.
