Edison Seeks Substantial Rate Hikes Across Ohio Areas

Ohio Edison Co filed with PUCO to raise rates for industrial customers by about 22 percent and for commercial and residential customers in non ordinance areas by about 28 percent. The move would lift annual revenue by 39.7 million dollars and add roughly 17 cents a day to the typical non ordinance area home bill. President D Bruce Mansfield cites higher operating costs and environmental commitments as inflation presses prices, noting past increases did not keep up with costs. Norwalk customers are exempt for now due to a two year protection from a municipal sale agreement.
