The Senate Labor and Public Welfare Committee backed a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to 2.20 per hour within a year. It would lift current 1.60 to 2.00 on enactment and 2.20 after a year for workers covered before 1966, with 2.20 for later workers and farm workers rising to parity in three years.
Gina Gibson 12 survived a crash near Provo Municipal Airport that killed five family members Lee 34 Elinore 33 Gayle 13 Clinton 9 and Ernest 5. A six place Cessna 310 lost power then hit an earthen dike and exploded in flames. Gina was thrown free and a miraculous escape followed as firefighters attempted to help.
Karl Feller of the United FOOD workers union in Cincinnati says he is amazed to be named on the White House enemies list provided to the Senate Watergate Committee. Sammie G Deskins 21 of Shiloh and James Jewell Jr 21 of Garrison Ky pleaded guilty in Common Pleas Court in May to forging the name of Bessie McKay on a check. They received three years probation and Deskins must pay 100 restitution. Cases sent to Richland County probation due to residence.
