Fourth of July Parade Draws 170 Units In City Area

James Anderson announced 170 units will join the annual parade. formations on Whittlesey Avenue drive through Benedict and Norwood to the fairgrounds, 9 am assembly and 10 am start. Special trophies to decorated bicycles. Scouts meet at Huron County Bank Drive In on Monroe Street. Post parade drill team contest and antique car show at the fairgrounds. Fire damages home on Moriah Road totaling 100 dollars. Crossings at Newton and Jefferson close until next Wednesday. Three of four men charged with grand larceny plead innocent, bond set at 2000 cash or 4000 property. Remaining suspect released. Hospitalized persons include Jacquelyn Slanczka in critical condition and David Rollins in satisfactory condition.

Hit-skip injures 62 year old in Norwalk

Ronald Albright of 37 Old State Rd. was treated and released at Fisher-Titus Hospital after a hit-skip crash at Milan Avenue and East Main Street around 9 30 p.m. No other details were available from Norwalk.

EHOVE Building Phase Two Nears Completion

EHOVE Superintendent J Creighton Christ says the second phase of the EHOVE Joint Vocational School will finish within two weeks, making all five original buildings usable. A small agricultural building will start in two weeks and cap within 90 days, with site work continuing through summer. The district’s plan to create a technical school district was rejected by the Ohio Board of Regents last week.

Ben Het Gets Supplies As Siege Drags On

U S cargo planes dropped 40 tons of supplies to the 650 man Ben Het camp near Kontum while North Vietnamese siege endured for 52 days. A commander labeled the siege stupid and said the attackers achieved nothing. At least 75 rounds hit the post and five men were wounded in a 127 round barrage. Monsoon weather eased allowing Caribou planes to deliver bundles by parachute.

HMHA Approves Four Builders for First Low Income Units

The Huron Metropolitan Housing Authority in New London approves H & G Home Improvement Center for 28 units and 75 units in Willard with two other local builders. First 12 Gearhart units to be finished within 120 days. rents start at 115 dollars for one bedroom, with water and sewer included and some utilities paid by tenants in Gearhart projects.

Plan For Norwalk Calls For 200 Housing Units

HMHA authorized a program to provide 200 housing units for low income persons in Norwalk. Ronald Ashley was told to develop the plan so it is ready when the state housing board approves expansion of HMHA boundaries to include Norwalk. State officials said authorization paperwork is being completed in Columbus.
