Norwalk Man Sues FT In Wife's Death

Glenn C. Downing of Norwalk filed a $150000 negligence suit against Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital and Drs. Russell Fisher and R. W. Higgins. He cites his wife Charlene Downing died after an excessive anesthesia dose during surgery on June 23 1970. The suit seeks jury trial and alleges hospital negligence in preoperative preparation and anesthesia administration. It also notes a separate 1969-70 suit by the Youngs against the hospital was settled and dismissed.

Government officials weigh secret Vietnam study drafts

Officials say preliminary drafts of a secret Vietnam war study may exist beside the 15 final copies and could have fed the New York Times series. The possibility would complicate the FBI search for how the Times obtained an almost complete copy of the report. Reorganization Plan For City Hall Proposed

A plan to tighten administrative control in city hall and overhaul financial procedures was unveiled Tuesday night. It calls for reshuffling duties among elective officers, creating full time positions under the service director, auditor and treasurer, and outsourcing utility billing for three years before buying a city computer.

Norwalk Teachers Seek 8 12 Percent Pay Hike Mediators Propose Base 6650

The Norwalk advisory board recommends a starting salary of 6650 for a bachelor’s degree teacher and a 5312 11 200 scale to master degree teachers with 14 years experience. One year raises average 8 for beginners to about 12 for veterans. The impasse involves salaries coaching hospitalization day length and reopener clause. The mediators also propose higher coaching pay including head football coach 935 and head basketball coach 935 with various assistant rates.
