Bumper Beat Norwalk Man Cited For DUI After Collision
Norwalk man James Harkness, 49, of 72 Glover Street was cited for driving while under the influence after a two car crash at Glover and Sheridan streets. His pickup turned in front of Mary Green, 23, of 68 Glover Street, who swerved to avoid him and struck a mailbox and an Ohio Edison pole. No injuries were reported.

In Municipal Court Steve Farkas 18 of Old State Road and Steve Waugh 18 of 22 Hawthorne Dr were represented by Fred Waugh and set for a pre trial June 22 at 11 a.m. for a firecracker and horn honking incident from June 2. Joseph Ziegler owner of Progressive Allied Industries also pleaded innocent to a minor fire code violation with a trial set for June 22 at 9:15 a.m. for permitting an electrical fire hazard after being instructed to fix it.

Doctor Resigns Two Local Psychiatry Posts in Norwalk
Yong W. Kim, psychiatrist for the Huron County Mental Health Center and Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital, resigns both posts effective June 30 amid controversy over mental health services. The 36 year old native of Korea had practiced in Norwalk two years and may start a new practice elsewhere. He cited uncertainty about the center’s future and sent his resignation to Mary Lou Griffiths, president of the mental health society. The 648 Board, which oversees county services, is expected to award a new contract Wednesday night to operate the county mental health program.
