Norwalk Senior Center and Four County Young at Hearts plan a Sea World trip in Aurora with an 8:30 a.m. departure from Seybert United Methodist Church Bellevue and a 9 a.m. Norwalk pickup at St. Paul Episcopal Church. Beta Sigma Phi held a potluck at Mrs. Obermiller’s home with awards for perfect attendance and cake decorating. A summer theatre party is planned for Canal Fulton. Willing Workers Farm Women will meet 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at East Townsend Town Hall and tour the Tiffin Glass Co.
The engagement between Gwendolyn M. Bradner of South Amherst and Mark R. Murdock of Wakeman was announced. Bradner, a 1972 South Amherst High School graduate, will study dental hygiene at Ohio State University after this fall. Murdock, son of James R. Murdock, is a 1969 Western Reserve High School graduate who will receive an associate in political science from Lorain County Community College this year and plans to study criminal justice at the University of Dayton this fall. He serves in the Lorain unit of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Wedding plans are indefinite.
Rev. Thomas E. Reynolds marked 45 years at St Marys and his priestly retirement with a Sunday mass honored by choir, bells, and a reception. Parishioners gave gifts and heartfelt tributes recalling his devotion to teaching and youth. Dr N M Camardese recited a poem and former mayor Louis Frey spoke of his long service.
Tonight and Tuesday list of local gatherings including Firelands Women’s group, Carry On Discussion Club picnic and officer election at Mrs. Robert Kramer’s home, Boy Scout Troop 208 at St Peter Lutheran, Little Flower Club dinner at Kudro’s Bellevue, St John the Baptist Discussion Club, CAC Youth Group, AMVETS, Gibb Hold Circle, Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club, Whittlettes TOPS, Grandmothers Tournament at Elks Country Club, Potluck at Senior Center, Lions Club at Elks, Planning and Zoning at City Hall, Eastern Stars Moose Lodge Knights of Columbus all with evening times listed.
Army Pvt. Kent S. Millhouse 17, son of Ronald G. Millhouse, finished eight weeks of basic training at Ft. Jackson S C with Company C 9th Battalion 2nd Brigade. He previously worked at Clark Station. Army Pvt. Jeffery L. Kernell 20, son of Claude L. Kernell, finished eight weeks of advanced individual training at the U S Army Armor Center Ft. Knox Ky.
