A rubber worker from Youngstown, Philip K. Brenoel aged 22, jumped from the rear of a slow-moving convertible after drinking with friends near Warren on Ohio 170. He was struck and killed by a car driven by 60 year old Robert Orth of Ashtabula, the highway patrol said.

The arrest was by the Huron County sheriff's department.
Louis Thill, newly appointed Civil Service Commission member, says his resignation is in the mail. Mayor Harold Finch could not be reached for comment on a successor. State law requires no more than two party affiliates on the commission. Thill’s appointment was ruled invalid because all three were Republicans.
