Ohio Firms Urged to Repay Illegal Short Term Loans
Ohio Attorney General Paul W. Brown said three firms were asked to settle more than 30 million dollars of commercial paper loans made illegally by the state treasurer’s office. The loans exceeded the 50 million dollar limit and the 270 day limit, and some qualified as prime rated by the national credit office per state law. Some loans have been repaid while others face repayment demands. In Columbus, bids will open July 14 for U S 224 and State Route 13 work in Huron County. The project is valued at 125 thousand dollars and includes resurfacing and curb replacement with no detour expected.
