In Salt Lake City a proposed supermarket robbery led to deals with three teenagers. Deputy Alan Orlob and Deputy Joe Lindquist arranged nonprosecution in exchange for help capturing the ringleader, but charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.
Albert A. Marks stated the Miss America pageant will not go all out but may photograph contestants in two piece swimsuits for the first time in its 54 year history. Bikinis are banned.
Congress rushed a bill boosting pay for Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, Speaker Carl Albert, Chief Justice Warren Burger to 62 500 annually. Cabinet members and Supreme Court justices rise to 60 000, senators and representatives to 42 500. Nixon pension tied to cabinet pay increases. Ford’s 200 000 salary stays unchanged.
Milan Steel executives told the Huron County Commissioners they would seek information on issuing industrial revenue bonds to back a new 80 000 square foot fabricating plant in Huron or Erie counties. The project would add about 50 jobs at the new site and possibly 20 to 30 more from a planned manufacturing operation.
President Ford pressed Turkish premier Suleyman Demirel to smooth relations as Congress hovers over a pre-vacation vote to partially lift the arms embargo. Demirel warned the bases closure would hurt cooperation while Brezhnev signaled no victor in the summit.

Chuck McCracken a 36 year old in San Bernardino has halted life sustaining dialysis and plans to die within weeks to avoid unbearable pain. He made funeral arrangements and says he looks forward to joining the Lord. He has four children and a wife, and will spend his remaining time pursuing ham radio.
Norwalk Mayor Wayne Goodsite and Finance Director Douglas Colvin fault county commissioners for how federal funds were split among Huron County towns. Goodsite says Norwalk, 43.12 percent of the county population, received 31.4 percent of the funds, with Willard and Monroeville receiving disproportionately larger shares. He based figures on 290000 allocated plus 30000 previously distributed, minus 27000 countywide holdback, and asserts no clear criteria were stated. Colvin noted nine city hires using 92000 from the same allocations.
Huron County Commissioner Maurice Smith, a Democrat, may run for Ethel Swanbeck’s Ohio House seat in November 1976 if she retires. Realtor Richard Rench says he may again seek the seat regardless of Swanbeck’s decision. Swanbeck serves her 11th term. district covers parts of Huron, Erie and Lorain Counties.
Avery Huron and Erie county farmers packed EHOVE School to back Robert Calhoun and three board directors in a dispute with the Production Credit Association of Ashland. About 500 attended the meeting to vote on removing opposed board members amid a widening controversy over Calhoun’s firing by James DeRan.
