Girl Scouts Plan Mohican River Canoe Trip

Thirteen Ohio Girl Scouts including eight from Norwalk prepare for a four day Mohican River trip. They leave Camp Timberlane Sunday at 2 30 p m carrying tents and gear for primitive living. They will camp near Loudonville and canoe 13 miles first day 11 miles second day 14 miles third day and 6 miles fourth day.

Norwalk Girls Prepare 44 Mile Camp Timberlane Voyage

Eight Norwalk girls selected for a noon Thursday pickup at Coshocton complete a 44 mile journey built on swimming endurance and camping skills. This week they trained at Camp Timberlane in primitive living as prep for next week’s trip. Norwalk Guard Leaves Tonight for Camp Grayling

About 100 members of the Norwalk National Guard depart after midnight for Camp Grayling Michigan to join the 37th Division for two weeks of field training. Sgt Edwin Riedy notes they will fire mortars and 105 recoilless rifles. Among those leaving is Cleveland shortstop Chico Salmon, away from the Indians for two weeks.

Vandals Damaged City Garage and Car in Separate Incidents

police report a garage at 37 E Washington St severely damaged by vandals between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon. Entry broken by kicking the door. windows and walls harmed. furniture broken. gas pump damaged. estimated loss $75. In a separate incident Charles Welch reported a cord stretched across Milan Avenue damaged his car antenna.

Mayor Oglesby Cleared in Norwalk Traffic Case

Irvin J. Oglesby 26 of 22 Grand was found not guilty of failing to drive on the right side after a Norwalk Police report of a July 9 crash. Mayor Harold Finch said there was reasonable doubt after testimony from a policeman and the defendant. Oglesby still faces possible probation revocation in Huron County Common Pleas Court.
